Why Women Are More Prone To Cellulite

It is not often that you will see a man with cellulite, even those who are considerably overweight. The reason for this is cellulite is connected to reproductive hormones and men don’t have those same hormones.
Anything that alters the reproductive hormones in the body such as the contraceptive pill or hormone replacement therapy will also affect the condition of your cellulite.
The reason is; estrogen is released when taking the pill or hormone replacement therapy and estrogen is directly linked to problems with cellulite.
Women are genetically programmed to store fat and in particular in the lower body.
In fact woman store up to six times more fat on the lower body than the upper body and this is why cellulite is prevalent on the thighs and buttocks.
Increased estrogen also increases water retention and this is another factor in determining how much cellulite you are likely to have in these areas. Many teenagers and young women suffer from cellulite because they are taking contraceptives that affect the hormones.
Even in these cases there is a lot that can be done to reduce the level of cellulite so all is not lost.
Anything that will help to mobilize the buildup of toxins and fat that is trapped beneath the skin will help to smooth out the skin and reduce the visual effect of the cellulite.
Brushing the skin and rubbing in creams that penetrate the skin will help to mobilize these factors and in doing so many women have very positive results in improving their cellulite.

A poor diet will increase the incidence of cellulite with most women. Eating junk food regularly has been linked to an increase in cellulite. So can diet eliminate cellulite? It can certainly help.
This is one of the reasons why you often see skinny supermodels with cellulite at the top of their thighs because they often live on a diet of junk food and poor nutrition.
These foods that lack the essential nutrients of a healthy diet can stimulate cellulite by mimicking estrogen.
Apart from the fact that junk foods do increase the retention of fat in the body the effect that the chemicals in these foods can have, makes it all the more difficult to keep your cellulite under control.
Drinking fresh water on a regular basis is one step towards flushing out the toxins in the body and reducing the incidence of cellulite.
By remaining hydrated the skin also remains in good condition and the body has the ability to flush out the toxins and immobilize the use of fat.
This is a simple solution compared to dieting, which often results in yoyo dieting which only increases the incidence of cellulite as the weight goes on and off the body and continues to get stored around the buttocks and thighs in ever increasing amounts.
So one of the first steps would be to reduce the amount of junk food you eat and increase your water intake so you remain hydrated throughout the day.
Not only will your skin improve but your energy levels will also increase when you remain hydrated.
This is not a diet that becomes difficult to maintain, but merely a slight change in direction they can have a huge impact on the condition of your skin. You’re not actually dieting but improving your diet and this should also help you to lose weight.

Collagen is responsible for the healthy condition of the connective tissues in your skin.
A reduction in the levels of your collagen will result in the deterioration of your skin condition and this will also affect your cellulite as cellulite is caused by a combination of the fat cells and the condition of your connective tissues.
When there are structural changes that affect the subcutaneous fat tissue and the collagen fibers, the skin becomes dimpled as those collagen fibers draw in the anchor points to the skin.
As we age these collagen fibers change and in doing so increase the incidence of cellulite.
For this reason, there is no time like the present to get started reducing your cellulite before it becomes more difficult to do so.
It is never too late to make positive progress towards eliminating your cellulite, but the sooner you get started the easier it will be to reduce your cellulite and keep your skin in a healthier condition as you age.
Over time these small changes that you have made towards improving your skin and reducing your cellulite will have a compound and lasting effect that will give you better results than any yo-yo dieting could ever achieve.
There are a few different ways to increase and strenghten the level of collagen in your skin. Collagen injections are becoming increasingly popular, but a slightly less painful way is to take collagen supplements and/or use a collagen gel or lotion.

Now here is a connection between two problems that many people are unaware of.
Did you know that most women with cellulite also have a problem with constipation?
Constipation and other bowel problems make it difficult to eliminate waste properly and it is this buildup of waste that is the cause of cellulite for many women. This often results in a tendency for the person to have poor lymphatic drainage. Poor lymphatic drainage results in cellulite; so one problem follows the other.
For this reason it pays to look at other areas of your health to see where they might be problems because your cellulite might be coming from another health problem that needs attention first. Once that problem has been resolved, often you will find that your cellulite levels begin to decrease and with the additional help of good quality cellulite products and treatments you’ll be well on the way to eliminating it forever.
Obviously if there are major health problems you will need to see your doctor, however you will probably have a good idea of what areas of your health lacking and then you can consider whether these can be directly related to your cellulite.
Anything that affects your nutrition, the digestion and elimination of your food, and water retention and your body can have an effect on your cellulite and these are the areas that you should look at first.
Cellulite is usually a sign that some other area of your health needs attention.

Causes Of Cellulite, Health | Comments (0)Causes Of Cellulite
Causes of cellulite are pretty varied, and although it may not be something you want to read about (seeing as this blog is more about how to get rid of it) it’s important to know the causes so that we can do what’s necessary to prevent the problem getting worse. It can also help in deciding on the best course of treatment.
The first thing that we need to remember is that being overweight is not necessarily one of the main causes of cellulite. In fact, I’ve taken great delight at times looking at pictures of skinny celebrities and even supermodels that have been cursed with the dreaded orange peel look. It’s not pretty, but if those who have endless supplies of money for cellulite treatments, chefs to ensure they eat a healthy diet, and personal trainers, then it just proves that ANYONE of any shape or size can get cellulite.
Some of the causes of cellulite include poor diet, lack of water intake, birth control pills, smoking, stress, lack of exercise, and unfortunately, genetics. Although we have no control over genetics it’s possible to control the other causes (something which we’ll be talking a lot about throughout this blog).
Basically, all of the above contribute to a build up of toxins in the body, which push against the connective tissue of the skin (where the fat cells are contained) and cause the dimply, orange peel effect that we hate so much.
